Siblings shine in mini-stocks
On November 24 Team Lowe Racing, brother and sister duo Max (55p) and Holly (56p) Lowe from Te-Rehunga, travelled to Gisborne to compete in a Speedway Mini-stock championship known as the Gizzy 100.
This meeting had young drivers from all over the North Island competing for two titles, one being the senior champion (15 and 16-year-olds) and the other being the junior champion (14, 13 and 12-year-old group.)
After three tough races in which Max had a fourth, a third and a win, with the highest points he took the junior title. After two years of racing this is Max’s first championship title.
Max and Holly race at tracks all over the North Island such as Palmerston North (their home track), Wanganui, Wellington, Hawke’s Bay, Rotorua and Gisborne. This summer they are also racing in Dunedin and Cromwell. Max has a passion for race cars and engineering and tries to do much of the maintenance and repairs himself on both cars. He hopes to one day be part of a professional racing team.
The team couldn’t do this amount of racing without the support from their sponsors such as Anderson Auto Electrical Dannevirke, Scrimshaw and Ransom Engineers Dannevirke and Ash Air NZ.
Holly and Max share the winner’s ribbon.
