Lisa wins high school Dux
A huge round of cheering erupted as Lisa Nguyen was awarded Dux Of Dannevirke High School on Thursday evening, December 5.
After comprehensively sweeping first place in all subjects there was little doubt she would win the prize but she admits it has been a very tough year combining her studies with her role of prefect and student representative on the DHS Board of Trustees. The school says of Lisa: “Lisa has followed in the tradition of all of our students who have previously been awarded this honour. There was nothing magic about her genetic make-up which propelled her towards this pinnacle in her life. Rather it was a combination of factors, most of which she has been totally responsible for.
“Lisa obviously has a family that values education and gaining rewards in life by dint of your own efforts. In this respect Lisa thoroughly reflects our school motto. Lisa is like all achievers.
“The secret to success comes not from any one massive event but in building up and making effective the small habits that Lisa developed right from the start and that stood her in good stead right throughout her life at Dannevirke High School.
It was her organisation and good study habits along with a real desire to learn and do her best that have seen her become the role model she is to others.
“Lisa would be the first to say “that if I can do it so can you” but she would rather lead by example than push her ways onto anyone. Always willing to help when asked she has also given a great deal of service to the school via her work as a prefect and as a student representative on the Board.
“Lisa is aiming for a career in law studying at Victoria University and we have no doubt she will achieve her goals. We look forward to following her career pathway and are immensely proud of her as a student at Dannevirke High School.”
