Race to the Brewery is back for 2020

-

The annual Property Brokers Race to the Brewery is returning to Palmerston North on Saturday February 29.

This will be the 10th Anniversary of this popular event, and promises to be the biggest and best yet, organisers say.

Organised by Property Brokers, the race has teams cycling and running 56km, some of it hilly farmland, to get to the Tui Brewery, all to raise muchneeded money for the Cancer Society and the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter.

“The event raised more than $40,000 in 2019, and more than $190,000 during the past nine years, the majority of which went to support the Cancer Society as part of the Relay for Life fundraising,” Paul Roache, regional manager at Property Brokers, says.

Property Brokers also uses some of the money raised to create a scholarship fund to assist talented young Manawatu¯ athletes in achieving their goals.

This year Race to the Brewery takes place on February 29 and is a great challenge, team building exercise and just good oldfashioned fun, and all in the name of a terrific cause.

If competing isn’t your thing, the party at the brewery afterwards is a good incentive.

With each passing year, previous competitors have returned and are joined by new teams in the spirit of fun, friendly rivalry and raising money for great local causes.

There are six legs, so the majority of teams are made up of six members, but teams can have up to 10 or as few as one if you are really keen. With the help of generous sponsors, local businesses, volunteers, local owners (who allow participants to race over their property) and participants, this race gets bigger and better. This event is an excellent example of how local businesses can team up for a good cause. The community is what makes Palmy and the wider Manawatu¯ such a great place to live, work and play.

Contestants embark on a race from Property Brokers’ Head Office at 240 Broadway Palmerston North and take on a variety of disciplines before being greeted with Mangatainoka’s East India Pale Ale at the Tui Brewery.

If you are looking for an event for your company or a group of mates to get involved in, join the Property Brokers’ Race to the Brewery.
