Senior cricket teams enjoy wins

- By DAVE MURDOCH

Both Dannevirke senior cricket teams won on Saturday, February 8, at Dannevirke.

For the Premier Twos that is becoming a habit, having beaten the top two teams in the Manawatu¯ competition over the last two weeks and they are now sitting on top of the table with three games before the top four playoffs.

For Dannevirke Premier Threes this win was its first and it squeaked in with one ball to spare.

Playing United the Premier Threes bowled first restricting United to 219 in 40 overs.

Matt Greg took two for 21 off eight overs. In reply Andrew Boyce (53) and Cameron Walker (41) put on 100 runs for an opening partnership and the rest of the team backed them up with Matt Greg scoring 28 and Josh Kendall 26.

It was a close call however as the overs ran down but egged on by the P2 team the P3s just made it.

Meanwhile the Premier Twos encountered the Palmerston North Cricket Club at the Dannevirke Domain putting on 319 all-out in the 48th over. A remarkable direct hit from the outfield ended their innings. Great contributions from George Larsen (54), Andrew Galloway (51), Thomas Kuggeleijn (44) were integral in the big total.

In reply Palmerston North folded for 78.

Andrew Galloway knocked the top off the innings taking 3 for 4 off four overs before Thomas Kuggeleijn and Callum Ingram each took three wickets to send Palmerston North Club home early.
