Route changes for Bush Cycle Tour
Bush Cycle Tour returns to Tui Brewery with some route changes this year.
Pahiatua Lions in conjunction with the Bush Cycle Tour Committee are in full swing organising the tour.
Starting and finishing at the Tui Brewery, Mangatainoka, the tour has been a regular on the calendar for two decades and it returns on Saturday, March 14.
Its continued popularity is likely down to the fact that the whole family can participate and this year is no exception! Organisers have come up with some new courses to mix things up for those loyal followers and which will also make the courses better and safer.
The tour consists of MacDougalls 125km Ultimate, Martin Beveridge Ltd 80km, MCI & Associates 40km Experience, Tour de Toki 15km and the popular Paperplus 5km for the kids.
The 40km leg is perfect for e-bike owners and the longer stages will have cyclists take a return route via AlfredtonPongaroa. With 1500m of climbing across the 125km course it will be “super tough riding”, organiser Kevin Laskey said.
“The new routes are fantastic especially the big ride, and if we see more than 20 vehicles throughout the 125km I would be very surprised.”
It’s a great day out for all which is always well supported by local businesses and the local community groups which help out on the day.
There will be plenty of familyfriendly activities with a sausage sizzle, bouncy castle and live music by the local students from Tararua College.
“All funds raised are donated back to local charities with funds from previous years supporting the Harvard Park, Wheel park and St John. We look forward to seeing you there,” said Kevin.
