Meeting Warmer Homes standards
Rental properties will soon need to have ventilation for the cooking areas and bathroom/s in addition to the heating requirements that are in place now.
“Even before the new Standards came out, we were installing range hoods and bathroom fans. And we’ve been doing this for a long time now,” says Joel Turner from Managh Electrical.
“Richard Turner has been doing this sort of work for almost longer than I have been alive!”
“We can supply and install bathroom fans, three-in-one heat/light/fan units to inline or wall fans, replacing old ones with compliant units or installing them through the roof if it’s a flat roof.
“The benefit we offer is that we are a retailer for range hoods (good buying prices) as well as being an installer. We do everything in-house — we are a one-stop shop. It makes us a little more affordable because we don’t have to out-source contractors to do any of the work, unless it requires building work. We buy direct from the suppliers F&P, Parmco, Robinhood, Electrolux, Bosch.
Joel has selected a few top sellers and installed them in their showroom.
“We can get anything from a $199 Range Hood, right up to a $3000 one. We tend to do a lot at the cheaper end for rentals to comply as soon as possible, for as cheap as possible.
“They are generally pretty affordable for most houses that have open-cavity ceilings, or where the kitchen shares an exterior wall. They can be dearer if you have a flat roof. In rare cases you have to get a builder involved to pull some of the roof off and build a cowling to duct out the roof. It’s a good idea to vent your bathrooms and kitchens, even if it’s not a rental — as this keeps your house dry.
“This is just one of the many electrical services offered by Managh Electrical for the Tararua District. We cater for all your Warmer Home requirements,” he said.
