Tararua Refrigeration holds opening

- By STEVE CARLE´

Richard and Dana Fleming, owners of Tararua Refrigeration, proudly opened the refrigeration and electrical business at a grand opening function in Pahiatua on site next to the Regent Cinema on Thursday, March 19.

“One of the major reasons we set up Tararua Refrigeration was because the town was lacking an avenue for young people to be trained,” Richard said.

“Our intention is, as business builds up, to employ a refrigeration apprentice and an electrical apprentice on an annual basis. We want to grow with the town and the town with us as well.

“We’re all about training and upskilling and youth. I had a lot of opportunities given to me. Now its time to offer that back. We need the high school students at our local college to be able to come here and do an apprenticeship.

“This will be over a three-year period. This is not a cheap exercise and we need a work-flow to be able to do that. We are 100 per cent professional in our work but retain a country feel. Its a really exciting opportunity.

“There is a huge variety of work in Tararua. Everything from a domestic fridge to a commercial chiller. We can do anything from a simple power point to a factory refit and everything in-between such as: data, CCTV, alarms, ventilation and air conditioning.

“For electrical work we have electricians on the staff from Pahiatua.

“We can carry out work to meet the needs of Building Act requirements and the new legislation around heating and ventilation for rental properties. We do a lot of that work.

“For farmers we offer a full refrigeration service — farm vats, chillers, any refrigeration or ventilation needs.

“We can meet farmers’ electrical needs and our servicemen can do what needs to be done across the Tararua District, from the ranges to the sea.

“We offer solar installations, especially solar water pumps. We’re a one-stop-shop. We want to be able to offer a solution to somebody as a trusted brand.

“We have two major heat pump brands — Daikin and Mitsubishi — both factorybacked.

“These are considered the two best in the world. That’s what we are bringing to the table, we are bringing the best we can — its all about quality. If we can do a quality product at a reasonable rate and offer something back to the town, its a win-win for everybody.

“We can service and install any brands. We’re poised to drive forward, that’s what we are going to do,” he said.
