Local singer Molly needs your vote

Competing in TV contest Take The Mic

- Dave Murdoch

Molly Pawson from Dannevirke is competing in Take The Mic, a competitive, musical reality series on TV2 on September 30 at 4pm and she needs your vote.

This programme is a kind of talent quest in which 12 young musicians, selected from several hundred, perform on TV2 in their allotted time slot to win your vote.

The three top scorers will go into a live final on October 10.

The programme is an initiative by NZ On Air to attract viewers back to afternoon television. Take The Mic starts on September 19, concluding on October 7 when voting starts.

Molly has been entertaining the public ever since she was a tiny tot, learning guitar from Helen Carver in her School of Modern Music.

Moving to Napier Girls High as a teenager, she has flourished, being involved in its local band The Jaysins which placed third in the local Rockquest competition and singing many of her own compositions plus regular standards on any occasion offered like Dannevirke Host Lions Senior Citizens’ Christmas parties.

In October last year she was one of four to be selected to sing with the NZ Symphony Orchestra, performing

her song Bellbird’s Call.

She said performing with the NZSO was “an incredible experience from the moment she first walked into the huge and beautiful Michael Fowler Centre”.

She said although she has performed on the Dannevirke Town Hall Stage nothing had prepared her for this.

Now you have a chance to see her perform on TV2 at 4pm on September 30 and from October 7-10 vote for her. If you do so in great enough numbers she will perform again in the final.

Remember she competes against the voting power of the rest of New Zealand.
