Pupils share plans for mum’s special day
Mums living in a rural Waikato community are about to find out how much their families appreciate them.
Pupils at Roto-o-Rangi Primary School, near Cambridge, were busy putting the finishing touches on gifts for Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 13.
But judging by feedback from the youngsters, mums could expect a gift from the heart, not from a retailer this year.
Year 3/4 students Josiah Hutchinson, Zoe Thurgood, Riley Kuijpers, Mitchell Early and Emma Dawson are looking forward to making their mums feel special.
Each was keen to talk about how important their mums were in their lives and what they would like to give on Mother’s Day.
‘‘Mymumis special because she looks after me and doesn’t spoil me,’’ said Emma.
‘‘I think I will get her a backpack because she does a lot like my rugby games.’’
As for a present idea, he was considering maybe breakfast in bed and a card.
Riley’s mumworked at Kaipaki Primary School.
‘‘She is very kind to everyone and she’s nice and just looks after me.’’
She can expect breakfast in bed and may get some jewellery too.
‘‘If I get her some earrings, I will be able to wear them too,’’ Riley said.
Zoe’s mumis just ‘‘a lot of fun’’.
‘‘I would like to get muma necklace, beads and chocolates.’’
