NZCCM healing clinic gets a thumbs up

-

The New Zealand College of Chinese Medicine (NZCCM) recently conducted a free healing clinic at the Blockhouse Bay Community Centre in conjunction with the Chinese Wing of the Bridge of Love Association Inc. who were highly appreciative of this initiative.

Dr Jessica Li Feng, the College Principal and her team of eight senior students brought their own medical beds, TDP lamps and other equipment to provide free Chinese medicine consultation and treatment to a total of 30 patients at the Centre.

The basic principles of umbilical needle therapy, a new development in acupuncture, and its effectiveness in diagnosis and treatment for a variety of conditions were explained. The NZCCM team of professionals also responded well to questions and issues pertaining to healthcare raised by patients.

Dr Feng emphasised the importance of paying attention to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. According to her several patients, particularly the elderly, have a cold constitution which is a deficiency or lack of Yang energy. These patients were advised to adopt healthy eating habits.

Patients undergoing acupuncture including the umbilical needling treatment usually report a significant improvement in chronic ailments and conditions while granular herbal medicine often times eliminates painful conditions almost immediately.

NZCCM also operates a TCM Student Clinic with a well-stocked Chinese Herbal Dispensary at its campus on 321 Great South Road, Greenlane in Auckland. The Clinic, where senior students practise under the watchful eye of experienced supervisors, is open to members of the public and offers affordable acupuncture sessions at $10 per session.

A TCM Clinical Centre is also available at the College for qualified ACC registered acupuncturists to practise from. A wide variety of ailments and conditions are treated here including but not limited to arthritis, chronic pain, fertility issues, sleep disorders, diabetes and asthma and effective results are observed and experienced by patients. Members of the public can call the Clinic on 09 969 4328 to make appointments and parking is available on campus.

The College offers Certificate, Diploma and Degree Courses in Massage, Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture and is currently enrolling domestic and international students for its February 2018 intake. Further information is available at www.chinesemedicine.ac.nz

An open day for course enquiries along with free acupuncture treatment is also scheduled for Monday January 22, 2018 and members of the public and prospective students are invited to attend. For registration please call 09 580 2376.
