Internet help for CHB’s families

CHB Mail - - News -

Central Hawke’s Bay households with young children but no broadband might be able to access a subsidised internet service.

Central Hawke’s Bay District Council Libraries have teamed up with the Spark Foundation to offer Spark Jump to families with children under the age of 18.

A low-cost, pre-pay internet service, Spark Jump provides subsidised home internet. Eligible families receive a free modem and a wireless broadband connection and pay $10 for 30GB of data, with no fixed-term contract.

The modem can be topped up like a pre-pay mobile phone and because it uses Spark’s 4G wireless network, there is no fibre or landline connection, and no installation costs.

Families without home internet can see if they are eligible by making an appointment at the libraries, who will also assist with setting up the service and provide an introduction session.

■ For an appointment call the Waipawa library on 06 857 8123 or Waipukurau library on 06 858 9154.
