Yet again we have been left speechless with the support we received from the local community in CHB for our daughter Lucy Owen’s fundraising golf tournament held at the Waipawa Golf Club on 4 June to help with her travel expenses and day-to-day living cost on her 4th and final year of her golfing scholarship at the University of Little Rock Arkansas, USA. Despite the weather bomb that hit the area over the weekend, we had over 40 players in the field and we thank Waipawa Golf Club for all their hard work and support. The volunteers that came forward without hesitation were also unbelievable and we thank Peter Moore, Barb, Pete Aitken, and Pam Drylie. A huge thank you to John Burton for supplying and cooking all of the food again this year. The generosity of the local community and businesses was astounding and we are very grateful, especially as many of these businesses have supported us for all four years. Golf holes at the tournament were sponsored by Mike Barkers Contractors, Kitchens and More, R & S Gray, Fishing and Shooting CHB, Waipawa Butchery, New World, Mitre 10, Unichem, Mills Honda, Farmlands, Johnson Electrical, CHB Funeral Services, G & G Building Services, Baldwin & Co Building Ltd., and we were given donations from The Clock Shop Waipawa, Lime Rock Wines, Kiwi Kanz, BP Waipawa, Sloans Sadlery, Stevenson and Taylor Ltd, Kingfisher Gifts Waipawa, Amarvia Blue, The Rising Dough Bakery, ColorPlus, Papoose Shop Waipawa, Four Square Waipawa, Pam and Roger Drylie, Riddifords Sports World, Wooden Edge, P.G.G Wrightson, Sloans Saddlery and Jewellery House. We also had individual sponsors of holes at the tournament including Glenn and Tim Keir, Alistair McMillan, Derek Wilde, Tim Mackie, Willie and Brony Jensen, Gary and Chris Frisk and many donations from friends and family, all of which we are truly very grateful.
The support for this event and Lucy was humbling to say the least and we are very grateful to everyone who helped make this the success it was and your on going support of Lucy and the youth of CHB. The Owen family
