Club rallies behind cause
For a second year, members of vintage car clubs from North Cape to Bluff will host simultaneous Daffodil Rallies on August 26 to raise money for the Cancer Society of New Zealand.
VCC president Diane Quarrie said the inaugural rallies in 2017 raised $40,000 nationally for the Cancer Society and this year would be “even bigger”.
“A number of our branches have organised a rally that will provide an interesting afternoon’s drive, while others are putting on a car show which will allow the public a close up look at the cars. This is a very important event for the VCC of New Zealand. Not only does it financially benefit an extremely worthy cause, but also raises the profile of our branches around the country.”
CHB Vintage Car Club publicity officer Sandra Cross said the 1903 Holley car was one of only four remaining worldwide. It would be one of the cars on display from 12.30pm at the A&P Showgrounds in Waipukurau.
Cost is $10 per car, plus $7 per head for afternoon tea. Tickets are available from Waipukurau Library, Storey’s Ltd, Waipukurau Motors, Waipawa Library, Cafe´ Norsewood and Dannevirke Information Centre.
