Tickets for the 2018 CHB Mail Central Hawke’s Bay Sports Awards have gone on sale.

Former Black Fern and well-known sports journalist Melodie Robinson, who has won two world cups with the national side, will be the guest speaker on the night.

Robinson played in two successful World Cup campaigns with the Black Ferns. The former loose forward played 18 tests between 1996 to 2002 before moving into sports journalism and presenting. Now a regular on SKY Sports, Robinson is a host of Super Rugby and Mitre10 Cup build ups, hosts the ANZ Championsh­ip and internatio­nal netball build ups, and provides a key insight into the growing women’s game.

Nicki Heremaia, Sport Hawke’s Bay community sport developmen­t officer for Central Hawke’s Bay, says, “The CHB Mail Central Hawke’s Bay Sports Awards continue to recognise the outstandin­g achievemen­ts of Central Hawke’s Bay athletes, coaches and officials.

“We have so many amazing athletes and administra­tors from CHB that make a difference in our community. The awards are a chance for the sporting sector to come together and recognise all that make sport great in CHB from grassroots through to elite level. It’s a great, affordable night out to celebrate our community’s success.”

Tickets for the event are $50 which includes a three-course buffet meal, guest speaker and entertainm­ent.

This year’s celebratio­n will take place at the AW Parsons Indoor Complex on Friday, November 2 beginning at 7pm.

Tickets are on sale Monday, October 1 through to October 26. Tickets can be booked and paid for online at www.sporthbchb.co.nz or via eftpos from the AW Parsons Indoor Pool Reception.
