Cen­tral Hawkes Bay, Tararua and Wairoa District Coun­cils are seek­ing ex­pres­sions of in­ter­est from suit­ably ex­pe­ri­enced can­di­dates to be the Coun­cils’ rep­re­sen­ta­tive on the Howard Es­tate Ad­vi­sory Board.

The pur­pose of the board is to ad­vise Pub­lic Trust on mat­ters con­cern­ing the man­age­ment and ad­min­is­tra­tion of Smed­ley Sta­tion as con­ferred un­der the Howard Es­tate Act.

The Coun­cils would be seek­ing to ap­point the can­di­date for a 3 year term. A trustee should, as a min­i­mum, have the fol­low­ing skills:

• An un­der­stand­ing of gov­er­nance is­sues

• An em­pa­thy for young peo­ple with the de­sire to see them suc­ceed in train­ing in the agri­cul­tural sec­tor

Ei­ther busi­ness ex­pe­ri­ence or other ex­pe­ri­ence that is rel­e­vant to the ac­tiv­i­ties of the board

A good un­der­stand­ing of large scale prof­itable farm­ing en­ter­prises Sound judge­ment

A high stan­dard of per­sonal in­tegrity

The abil­ity to work as a mem­ber of a team

Trustees would need to be avail­able to at­tend five sched­uled board meet­ings and four events each year, as well as other ad hoc meet­ings and events as re­quired.

Can­di­dates wish­ing to put for­ward an ex­pres­sion of in­ter­est should write a let­ter out­lin­ing why they wish to be an Ad­vi­sory Board Mem­ber rep­re­sent­ing the above coun­cils, and an ex­pla­na­tion of the skills above. Can­di­dates may wish to en­close their CV.
