Get baking for cake contest
Cake mixtures are being stirred all across CHB as contestants prepare for the iced and uniced Christmas cake class of the Open Baking Section at the CHB A&P Show on Saturday, November 10.
Entry to the baking section is free, and classes include iced chocolate cake and savoury scone, all of which will be cut and tasted by the judges on the day. Cakes will also be judged on their presentation. Scones need to be presented on a sandwich plate.
It’s easy to enter — just use your favourite recipe, and present your creations to the steward in the Industrial Hall at the Waipukurau Showgrounds no later than 8.30am on Saturday, November 10.
The craft sections are also free to enter — with the same 8.30am deadline.
Craft sections include Open Decorative — a Christmas bauble made from any material; Floral Centrepiece in a recycled container (imagination encouraged); and the Open Craft Section — home made Christmas stockings — any material.
Children’s sections are Baking — a decorated gingerbread person, judged on taste and presentation; Novelty section — a Christmas bauble made from any materials. Age groups are 5 and under, and 6 to under 13. No commercial entries will be accepted, entry forms are on the CHB A&P Show website, CHB Libraries or from the A&P office at the showgrounds on Mitchell St.
