Hockey girls play na­tional tour­na­ment

Af­ter a huge amount of fundrais­ing and many prac­tices, Emily Brun (Waipuku­rau pri­mary), Brooke Lit­tle (Waipawa pri­mary) and Emma John­son (Waipawa pri­mary) left on Sun­day Oc­to­ber 7 bound for North Har­bour as part of the the HB Col­lier un­der 13 year old girls hockey team for 2018. The na­tional tour­na­ment was held at North Har­bour Hockey sta­dium and 24 teams from across the coun­try were in­volved. The HB Col­lier team played eight games in six days and made it into the semi­fi­nals. The HB girls played off with Auck­land for third and fourth place. They were beaten and fin­ished in fourth place.

The team was seeded 13th go­ing into the tour­na­ment.

Emma John­son was MVP for HB Col­lier and the team won the tro­phy for the friendli­est team for the tour­na­ment.
