Those courier drivers
Despite having a service lane behind the shops on the west side of Ruataniwha Street and a service lane behind the shops on the east side of Ruataniwha Street, there are frequently courier vans and banking vans double-parking on Ruataniwha Street. The Road Code is very clear that this is not permitted, and drivers of these vehicles have licenses to attest they understand what is written in the road code. Is it really so difficult to understand? We should have tolerance for other drivers, but does that include drivers who deliberately flout the code designed to permit safer and more harmonious driving? The only answer is they do this because they know they can get away with it. I often stop to allow other vehicles to park or pedestrians to cross the road, but these courier drivers seem to believe they are above the law. Nigel Gray
