Kiwibank branch for Waipukurau

CHB Mail - - NEWS -

Kiwibank has announced it will establish a stand-alone Kiwibank branch in Waipukurau as it changes its longstanding corporate site-sharing deal with NZ Post.

“To ensure our presence in Waipukurau is sustainable we will be looking to introduce a new operating model. We’re considering all options but this may include different trading hours, says Kiwibank general manager retail distribution Geoff Waller.

“We’re working towards creating a more specialised banking service, an innovative customer experience and a strong brand presence locally. We first opened this style of branch in 2016 when we knew that customer needs had changed. They were looking for a Kiwibank that made it easier to have complex and important banking conversations. The customer feedback on our new stand-alone branches has been really positive and we’re excited that Waipukurau is the next community to enjoy this new branch model.”

The bank will remain at its existing Central Hawke’s Bay location.

“NZ Post and Kiwibank are both working through long-term strategies for our physical locations around New Zealand. NZ Post is looking for local businesses to help deliver postal and bill payment services currently available in Waipukurau.

“With New Zealand Post withdrawing from this co-located site, Kiwibank intends to continue as a standalone branch.

“At this stage it is our intention that the Waipukurau branch remain in its current location. It’s difficult to put a timeframe on when changes will take place. In some areas it has taken NZ Post a few months to find a partner. In other areas it has taken a year,” she said.

“There will be no change to the current situation until New Zealand Post finds a host business.”
