Boost for two groups

Hawke’s Bay Re­gional Coun­cil’s staff 2018 Christ­mas Cheer Ap­peal raf­fle pro­ceeds were been split be­tween two com­mu­nity or­gan­i­sa­tions in Wairoa and Cen­tral Hawke’s Bay.

The re­gional coun­cil has re­cently strength­ened its of­fices in these districts to in­crease the fo­cus on catch­ment man­age­ment.

Cen­tral Con­nect re­ceived a do­na­tion of $750 to help this vol­un­teer so­cial ser­vice with their free ser­vices to the com­mu­nity, such as coun­selling and so­cial sup­port.

“We really ap­pre­ci­ate the ex­tra funds at this time, which will be used to sup­port needy fam­i­lies in the dis­trict — fam­i­lies that have had a tough year and come out the other side,” said Donna Pirini, wha¯ nau so­cial worker with Cen­tral Con­nect.

An­other $750 was do­nated to Te Wairoa He Ha­pori Hau­maru (Wairoa Safe Com­mu­ni­ties).
