Just another churn-out

-

The Wedding Guest By Jonathan Kellerman, PenguinRandomHouse, $37 .. .. .. .. .. ..

A wedding ceremony is interrupted when a bridesmaid looking for an unoccupied ladies room discovers a body, a beautifully dressed young girl, garrotted with what looks like a guitar string.

There does not appear to be too much love abounding between the groom and the bride’s families. The bride’s family seem to think this is an attempt to sabotage their wedding day. There is no means of identification on the victim and no guest seems to have seen her before.

LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgess and his offside psychologist Alex Delaware are called in to solve the case. The wedding venue, aptly named Saints and Sinners, is an old strip joint. There are over 100 guests to interview. Nobody knows anything. There is a real hurdle hunting for the killer when the body remains unable to be identified. The hunt is on and Milo and Alex have landed themselves in a case that for a long time appears to go nowhere.

Jonathan Kellerman is another No 1 bestseller author according to the New York Times. Although he has received awards for previous crime novels I did not find this a page turner.

I found the dialogue between the two a bit smart and it grated on me.

I was not particularly interested in the movements of Alex’s dog.

I felt this was just another churn out for a saleable author.
