Wooden It Be Nice

-

A small startup business in Acklin St, Waipukurau is already making a dent in the “small jobs” that might still be a bit big for householders and property owners to tackle. William Boyd started his business with the support of his wife Lynne Ellingham-Boyd and daughter Abigail, Wooden It Be Nice, as he could see a gap in the market for someone to do the jobs that were too small for a builder or engineer, but a bit challenging for a property owner with limited tools and time. With this in mind, William has kitted out a workshop with carpentry and woodworking tools and engineering equipment including welders, benders, grinders, a sheet metal folder and an 8-foot guillotine.

“I can do a bit of everything” William says. “I’ve just made a concrete paver for an air conditioning unit, I’ve recently installed railings, replaced some rotten weatherboards and I’m re-doing parapet flashings for an Art Deco house. I’ve got a patio umbrella and an antique chair to repair...I enjoy it, it’s interesting. I can make furniture from scratch, install kitchens, repair spouting...anything that’s non structural and doesn’t involve plumbing or electrical.” William also has a wood chipper that takes 4-to-6inch branches and a stump grinder that is compact enough to get into residential gardens.

“Local builders are very busy with new homes at the moment and few have time for smaller jobs like repairs or putting a handrail on a deck. That’s where I can help. Don’t sweat the small stuff, give me a call and I’ll get onto it for you.
