Takapau Primary School

-

Kia Ora

I am in my 9th year as Principal of Takapau School. I love my job! We all work hard as a team to provide the best learning opportunities for our tamariki. We have an experienced teaching team and support staff which we are very grateful for.

Our vision is to have: A Community of Confident, Connected, Active Learners.

Our motto is:

Ma te tikanga ka tangata, Manners Maketh Man

Our values:

Respect, Resilience, Responsibility and Relationships these underpin all we do.

We currently have 125 students spread across 6 classrooms.

Takapau School is proud of its environment both in and outside the classrooms. Our outdoor facilities include a fully utilised swimming pool, netball courts, junior and senior adventure playgrounds, an enclosed sandpit and a 350m limestone bike track around the perimeter of the school field. We own 50 bikes, which enables everyone to benefit from the cycle track. We have had turf laid in 2022 that encompasses our courts for Netball, Basketball and Padder Tennis. More recently we had added a deck across the front of the school with a covered verandah which is invaluable.

Our tamariki are involved in a range of learning activities and we are always well represented in sporting and cultural events. We start our day in our house groups using the programme Pause, Breathe, Smile. We are lucky to be a “lunch in schools’ school, and we have ‘whole school’ weekly Te Reo, kapa haka and ki-o-rahi lessons. Our Year 8’s are involved in the William Pike Challenge and work towards gaining “Success Badges” which they wear with pride. We provide lots of leadership opportunities.

We are all very proud of our tamariki and environment and welcome any visitors to our school. You can find us on Facebook or click on this link to see more: https://www. takapau.school.nz
