FROM THE NEWS DESK
Is Israel Folau-ting his opinion? The recent controversy over Maria Folau’s new husband has been a major talking point in the media on both sides of the ditch.
Personally, I feel he needs to put his big boy pants on and apologise for voicing his beliefs when he is in such a position of influence. While I do not like what he said, it is his choice to believe what he wants.
However, he also has to be aware of the consequences of preaching (what some may regard as hate speech), to the young, vulnerable and unsure.
It would be horrific to think that his religious viewpoint could be a catalyst in a young person harming themselves for believing what they feel is so wrong. Religion is a choice. Sexuality is not.
Choosing to be a Christian should be about being kind, accepting and non-judgmental. Treat others as you would like to be treated; isn’t that one of the main rules? I’m sure Mr Folau would not like to be told he was off to hell in a hand basket for playing for Australia.
