Sculpture park

Coastal News - - Front Page -

You may have heard that we want to foster a ground swell of support to reopen the sculpture park and arboretum as a freeentry public space.

This would enable many more people to enjoy it. For that to happen, we need to find long-term cover for the costs of maintaining the park and any health and safety concerns.

The month-long campaign kicked off Monday January 22 on the Arts Foundation’s crowd-funding site Boosted www.boosted.org.nz/projects/share-thesculpture-park to support impartial assessments of the park’s upkeep and of any safety issues.

Crowd-funding and other initiatives will bring the park back into public consciousness and register support for its future use.

If you haven’t been for a while, there are free ‘open days’ Anniversary weekend and Waitangi Day.

It’s a good time to gather up friends and family to introduce them to the park.

We also want to demonstrate the degree of support to any potential long-term funders by recording responses to an on-line survey.

A video of the sculpture park can be found on Youtube.
