Two men charged over as­sault

Po­lice were called to a nasty as­sault on a male in his 70s on Sun­day at Went­worth Val­ley Rd.

The vic­tim in this mat­ter suf­fered ma­jor in­juries but is now safe and re­cov­er­ing.

What a dis­grace­ful at­tack in our town but po­lice are pleased to ad­vise two men have been ar­rested and will ap­pear in Waihi on as­sault charges. Whanga­mata Po­lice and Waihi CIB are still in­ves­ti­gat­ing this mat­ter. Lock it or lose it

We are get­ting a num­ber if theft com­plaints com­ing in. Most re­cently, boat thefts are on the up. Tackle and fuel are be­ing tar­geted.

Po­lice seized a large num­ber of cannabis plants and an amount of dried cannabis ready to hit the street and cause more harm in our town. All in­volved were ar­rested and charged with drug of­fences. Fam­ily Harm.
