Pampering for pooches

Coastal News - - News -

Whangamata pet owners got the chance last weekend to pamper their pooch with pet accessories for the beach lifestyle.

Dog bandannas with a purpose are the creations of animal lover Shinneal van Kampen, who was at Whangamata Lions Craft Market on Saturday selling her custom accessories for the pooch who almost has it all.

The bandannas were a hit with furry locals like C J (pictured) and work by dropping your dog’s temperature by 3-4 per cent when worn wet.

Shinneal — who sells under the name “4urpaws” — says a few drops of lavender oil on the bandanna will help calm the nerves, while eucalyptus oil helps clear the nose.

The Lions offered “paw parking” for pooches and the luckiest of four-legged friends got treated by their owners to a sausage from the Lions’ stall, which was busy from opening until 2pm. All proceeds are used by the local charitable organisation for a good cause.
