Stars in their eyes at Rockers prize night
There were stars in the eyes of Whangamata¯ Coastal Rockers dance club as they farewelled their year with a Prizegiving Hop at the Whangamata¯ Club. The rockers held a mini Stars in their Eyes competition which featured best attempts at dopplegangers of famous entertainers including Tina Turner, Patsy Cline, Joan Jett and Dr Hook, who each took to the stage with their favourite songs. Club prize winners included Mike Street for male club person, the ‘go-to guy’ in the club. Sandra Whitmore — who is known for her energy and can-do approach — won the female club person award. Most improved male was Karl Sellars who now confidently rock ‘n’ roll. Gina Rosendaal and Sarah Sellars shared e most improved female dancer of the year, while Sue Kingsford and Peter Preston took out the consistently dressed at club nights.
