Stars in their eyes at Rock­ers prize night

There were stars in the eyes of Whanga­mata¯ Coastal Rock­ers dance club as they farewelled their year with a Prize­giv­ing Hop at the Whanga­mata¯ Club. The rock­ers held a mini Stars in their Eyes com­pe­ti­tion which fea­tured best at­tempts at dopple­gangers of fa­mous en­ter­tain­ers in­clud­ing Tina Turner, Patsy Cline, Joan Jett and Dr Hook, who each took to the stage with their favourite songs. Club prize win­ners in­cluded Mike Street for male club per­son, the ‘go-to guy’ in the club. San­dra Whit­more — who is known for her en­ergy and can-do ap­proach — won the fe­male club per­son award. Most im­proved male was Karl Sel­lars who now con­fi­dently rock ‘n’ roll. Gina Rosendaal and Sarah Sel­lars shared e most im­proved fe­male dancer of the year, while Sue Kings­ford and Peter Pre­ston took out the con­sis­tently dressed at club nights.
