Scorcher for Pauanui run
A scorcher of a day did not deter 148 competitors from taking up the challenge of climbing Mt Pauanui for the Bachcare King of the Mountain event.
Young, old and still young at heart ran the course.
Competitors began the 8.5km race from the Pauanui Surf Club and traversed along the beach reserve to the top of Mt Pauanui and back down from the summit via the south-eastern ridge to Cave Bay.
They then ran around the coast to the foreshore and back along the beach reserve to the Surf Club. The first runner managed to complete the course in a very good time of 41.56mins.
Organisers congratulated all the runners and thanked the volunteerswho gave up their time to make the event such a success.
