Scorcher for Pauanui run

A scorcher of a day did not de­ter 148 com­peti­tors from tak­ing up the chal­lenge of climb­ing Mt Pauanui for the Bach­care King of the Moun­tain event.

Young, old and still young at heart ran the course.

Com­peti­tors be­gan the 8.5km race from the Pauanui Surf Club and tra­versed along the beach re­serve to the top of Mt Pauanui and back down from the sum­mit via the south-east­ern ridge to Cave Bay.

They then ran around the coast to the fore­shore and back along the beach re­serve to the Surf Club. The first run­ner man­aged to com­plete the course in a very good time of 41.56mins.

Or­gan­is­ers con­grat­u­lated all the run­ners and thanked the vol­un­teer­swho gave up their time to make the event such a suc­cess.
