THERE IS SO MUCH GOODNESS

- KELLI BRETT, EDITOR, CUISINE

in this winning issue I don’t know where to start! We bring you the winners of our Cuisine Good Food Awards 2018 highlighting New Zealand’s very best chefs, restaurateurs and dining experiences. We also bring you the winner of our Cuisine Artisan Awards and highlight our pick of the top 20 New Zealand artisan products for 2018. Both of these awards events are an important part of supporting the hospitality industry and driving the New Zealand food and drink conversation. It is a privilege and a responsibility that we take very seriously.

At this time of year, most of us are usually still a little in denial about the approaching festivities. However, all of those end-of-year parties and pre-christmas get-togethers are just around the corner. The Cuisine team have you covered for any type of entertaining requirements with a selection of recipes that will take you from building your own mozzarella bar, to cooking over coals at your table hibachi-style, to making Lebanese breads that will become your go-to base for piling your favourite ingredients onto (or into) and slipping under the grill.

It’s the season for a good glass of bubbles too, and so our Cuisine wine team have identified the best champagnes and sparkling wines to complement your festive fare and help you raise a glass or two #cuisinestyle. And we have a very special gift for you, as it’s that time of year when friendships are treasured and traditions respected. We’ve looked back through our Christmas issues across 30 years and picked a selection of winning recipes from our Cuisine family of writers and recipe developers past and present. We bring back inspired favourites from Lauraine Jacobs, Ray Mcvinnie, Ginny Grant, Fiona Smith, Ruth Pretty, Natalia Schamroth, Celia Harvey and Al Brown. These recipes prove that a great Cuisine recipe is a great Cuisine recipe, no matter how old. We love that! And so, as you head into the endless rounds of celebrations and parties, cook and eat well, have a safe and delicious festive season, and be fabulous!
