POWERSURGE / BRASS BOOK (OR MAGAZINE) STAND
A VISIT TO THE NULIFAR gallery on the industrial outskirts of Milan inspired Todd Stevenson and Andrea Harradine, life partners and codirectors of Powersurge, to produce a collection of hand-hewn metal accent pieces that embrace the sanctity of old-world craftsmanship and the innovation of new world thinking. From a workshop in Henderson, West Auckland, the team creates artful objects handmade from solid brass and copper, with antiqued, brushed or polished finishes. Their work is inspired by architecture and the Isosceles book stand, $135, combines geometric balance with artisanal achievement. It's perfectly angled for the cook who prefers to refer to recipes on the tactile printed page rather than a remote digital version. powersurge.co.nz
