YOUNG VITICULTURISTS LOOK TO THE FINAL
Regional heats of the 2022 Corteva Young Viticulturist of the Year competition have been underway across New Zealand. Congratulations to Katie Cameron from Escarpment who won the Wairarapa title and to Tahryn Mason from Villa Maria who became the Marlborough champion. The contestants were tested on a range of viticultural skills including nutrition, trellising, pruning, biosecurity and public speaking. Katie and Tahryn will go on to the national final held in Marlborough at the end of August, competing against other young viticulturists from around the country. The other finalists in the Wairarapa were Hannah Pause from Foley Family Wines and Rob Jasionowicz and Hilary Forster, both from Escarpment. In the Marlborough heat the other contestants were Jess Marston from Giesen Wines, Daniel Clearwater from Constellation Brands, Zac Howell from Villa Maria, Claudia Clark from Constellation Brands and Kris Godsall from Whitehaven.
