Aussie I Pump… super smart
A midstream energy company system start-up time was significantly reduced with the implementation of Fisher wireless automated valves.
Results
• Reduced expected installation cost from $ 65,000 to $24,000 USD. • Installation time was shortened by eight days. • Increased scrubber operations reliability.
Application
Inlet scrubber operations in natural gas processing.
Challenge
As natural gas f lows through a pipeline, it produces a large amount of condensate that needs to be handled on a daily basis. To accommodate this process, automatic dump valves and liquid level indicators are required. However, due to their distant location at this plant, wiring costs from the pipeline to the plant control system were expected to exceed USD$ 65,000.
Solution
Fisher 4320 wireless position monitors were used to avoid the cost of installing additional wires and electrical conduits. Two people took three days to complete the installation. By implementing the wireless devices, the company is no longer restrained by the number of controller channels capable of being installed.
The Fisher 4320 wireless position monitor is costeffective, quick to install, and easy to monitor and change settings through the AMS Suite: Intelligent Device Manager and wireless configurator.
Result
By reducing wiring costs, electrical work, and eliminating input/output channels, the total implementation cost savings was USD$41,000. This installation has improved the reliability of the plant’s scrubber operations.
Since the Fisher wireless automated valves were successful, additional units have been added, giving the plant access to locations unreachable through traditional wiring methods.
www.demm.co.nz/reader-enquiry #151022. A new Aussie “Smart Pump” has been released featuring 316 stainless steel casing. The pump is an extension of Australian Pump Industries’ range of pumps designed for a wide range of potentially corrosive or difficult to handle liquids.
The original Aussie Smart Pumps were polyester with a wide range of elastomers suitable for handling liquids as diverse as fuel oils, seawater, acids and aggressive agricultural fertilisers and weedicides.
The new I Series stainless steel pump can also be used in aquaculture and even oil field applications. The pump’s major strength is its f lexibility and versatility. The pumps internals are available in fibreglass reinforced polyester, polypropylene or even Ryton.
Elastomers options, including o-rings on the mechanical seal, mean these pumps can be configured to suit a wide range of difficult liquids. For example, for seawater or brine Buna N seals are combined with polypropylene internal components (impeller and volute). For concentrated nitric acid, pump internals in either Ryton or polypropylene fitted with Viton seals make an ideal combination.
