DATALOGIC IS Introducing to the Asia- Pacific region a new range of powerful industrial scanners with longer ranges, enhanced autofocus and innovative features designed to minimise total cost of ownership.

The latest PowerScan models of cordless handheld scanners are ideally suited to warehousing, logistics, factory and automation applications and to companies looking to improve scanning efficiencies and productivity with a single scanner capable of performing multiple tasks, says the manufacturer.

“Datalogic is consistently looking at ways to make the scanning process faster, more accurate and more productive, while reducing total cost of ownership. The latest PowerScan range has several innovative in- built features designed for ease- of- use, durability and performance,” said Junhao Kew, Australia, New Zealand and South East Asia Field Marketing Manager, Datalogic.

“The latest PowerScan range includes our most advanced autofocus technology, which allows the scanner to read from a short distance of 15cm through to a distance of more than 20m with fast focus adjustment – allowing the operator to easily scan a nearby barcode, then a barcode at the top of a warehouse rack,” said Kew.

In addition to outstanding scanning lengths and quick focus adjustments, the new PowerScan range also features best- in- class performance in dark environments, for warehouses that utilise low lighting for product integrity, says the company.

The new PowerScan range ‘perfectly’ integrates with Datalogic’s vehicle- mounted computers, providing a seamless data capture experience to increase ease- of- use and operator efficiency.

The Auto Range (AR) models – capable of the longest read distances in the range – feature Datalogic’s innovative 3 Green Lights (3GL) technology, which guarantees the operator will receive good read feedback in any condition and from any position. Datalogic’s patented ‘Green Spot’ directly on the code and dual Good Read LEDs on the top and back of the cap add increased visibility at any angle.

“All Datalogic scanners are fully supported via in house service or through our partners across the Asia- Pacific region, with technology experts on- hand for any complex enquiries or service requests,” added Kew.

EXTENDED RANGE

Datalogic’s new PowerScan range includes models suited to a broad range of customer needs and application complexities, including: • PM9501- AR – a 1D/2D Auto Range model with extra-long range

capabilities.

• PM9501- DAR – an intermediate model which includes a display and

4- key keypad. • PM9501- DKAR – an advanced model which features a display with a full 16- key keyboard. The PM9501- DKAR model significantly increases the sophistication of interaction with the host system and opens up new potential uses of the scanner, making it suitable for applications that would normally require a more expensive portable data terminal.

I NNOVATIVE FEATURES

The new Datalogic PowerScan range incorporates innovative design features based on real-world experience in warehousing, logistics and factory environments, including those with advanced levels of automation and customised solutions.

Benefits of the new range include: • An improved battery system, an additional slot for spare

battery charging and three- second battery replacement. • Excellent performance within USB limits on power usage. • Compatibility with battery pack and accessories of

previous PowerScan models.

Durability features, including • 3 year factory warranty.

• Product testing to 10 million trigger hits.

• Particulate and water sealing (IP65).

• ESD protection to 20 kV.

• Tested to withstand 50 drops from a height of 2m onto

concrete.

• Can read up to 3 mils (linear codes) or 4 mils (2D codes). (Note: ‘mils’ denotes the width, in thousands of an inch, of the narrowest element – bar or space – in a barcode). “The latest PowerScan models build on Datalogic’s proven success with this globally- leading range. Innovative new features further enhance the scanners’ performance, efficiency and durability. From simple order fulfilment and stock picking, right through to advanced intralogistics applications, the PowerScan range can adapt to suit a wide variety of needs, with best- in- class features and longevity,” said Kew.

No two farms are exactly the same. Size, location, elevation, climate, soil structure and crop rotation all combine to create unique environments. However, the machinery used has to endure many of the same challenging conditions such as mud, dust and debris, extreme heat and cold, rain and runoff, corrosive chemicals, and long periods of inactivity followed by intense work schedules that test the limits of a farm’s equipment and its workforce.

In addition, the agriculture industry must deal with pressures resulting from rising fuel costs and other economic factors, as well as new regulations that will impact their profits. These range from requirements to reduce harmful emissions, reduce environmental impact and to protect the health and safety of workers.

To optimise productivity, farmers are looking to manufacturers to help them increase machine speed and efficiency, reduce or eliminate maintenance and downtime, and automate processes previously handled manually. Manufacturers, in turn, are collaborating with trusted suppliers and engineering partners to design and build a new generation of equipment with greater reliability and functionality.

EXTEND TIME I N THE FIELD WITH AUTOMATIC LUBRICATION

Maintaining the proper lubricant film is required to reduce wear, whilst frequent lubrication acts as a means to purge bushing and bearings of contaminants. If rock dust, dirt, sand and water are allowed to work their way into these components, they will form a “grinding compound” that reduces bearing life substantially.

Automatic l ubrication reduces downtime, so your equipment i s available when you need i t. Increasing reliability and availability can be achieved by utilising l ubrication systems which will extend the equipment service life, reduce operational and l ubricant costs and minimise environmental i mpact by avoiding overl ubrication. Also, reducing manual l ubrication results i n fewer potential accidents, and maintenance staff can be utilised for other tasks.

AGRI HUBS

Whether on a big or small farm, t ypically the goal i s to achieve consistent performance and durability with l ess demand on maintenance to free up time for other activities, and every minute of downtime caused by hub failure, maintenance or replacement results in a loss i n profit.

SKF Agri Hubs are greased and sealed to be virtually maintenance free throughout their bearing life. They can withstand various conditions during tillage and last very long, without the need to re- lubricate. The new T50 and T200 hubs can deliver excellent performance at minimal cost. The T200 can handle up to 200 000 hectares of tilling over its life cycle. Built to last, the high stiffness can minimise disc tilt and maximise machine reliability even further. To suit different farm sizes, the same technology that made the T100 trusted by farmers around the world, has now been applied to the extended range. Whether the T200 or T50 best suits your needs, you can be sure that it comes with a consistent performance and reliable bearing quality.
