PREMIUM COMPRESSOR BRAND FLOURISHES

-

FINNCO CONTROLS was originally founded in 1987 in the Bay of Plenty and was started as a pneumatics supply company. In 2002 the company established a machine shop and started to manufacture cylinders for its customers and distributors as well as repairs to all makes of pneumatic valves and cylinders. In 2004 it was purchased by Jason Light and became Finnco Pneumatics. In 2009 Finnco Pneumatics management identified a need in the market for a customer focused compressor service company that would offer exceptional services across all makes and models of compressors at a competitive rate; Finnco Compressors was started. In order to offer customers the complete reliable package of a true customer-focused compressor service company, the company needed to find a compressor supplier that had similar goals, values and focuses as its own and in 2010 Finnco Compressors was proud to be appointed the Sole New Zealand agent for ELGi Compressors. Introducing a new brand into an already busy market had its challenges but Light says with a forward-thinking company like ELGi his customers saw the benefits and were able to offer excellent feedback and references. ELGi has now grown to become one of New Zealand’s premium compressor brands, says Light. Since the sale of the first ELGi machine by Finnco the brand has flourished and hundreds of units have been sold country wide leading to the purchase in 2016 of Westec Automation in Auckland to look after the growing Auckland customer base and service that market. Light attributes a big part of the success of ELGi in New Zealand to the highly skilled and dedicated sales and service team at Finnco. With the experience, knowledge, passion, can- do attitude and high standard of workmanship of the entire team, the company continues to have huge growth. Finnco Compressors sells the entire range of oil flooded ELGi compressors from the ‘ever- reliable’ piston compressors, to the introductory level Encap screw compressors, to the Premium Global series range. ELGi machines have been installed in all types of industries from schools, food processing and general workshops to the Southern Hemisphere’s largest sawmill, the Red Stag Timber ‘super- mill’ that processes over one million tonnes of logs per year. And with the introduction of the new Oil Free screw compressors the company is looking forward to getting into markets that have otherwise not been possible, says Light. In 2019 Compressed Air Controls joined the ELGi NZ group and now allows the company to cover the entire North Island. Finnco is also working on future plans to set up branches in the South Island. ELGi continues to invest strongly in resources and innovation to develop the best possible product on the market while maintaining a strong customer focus and keeping the price competitive. Light says ELGi offers customers an incredible product for every application in the market and market leading warranties and full factory backing to Finnco. In 2019 ELGi backed up its policy of reliability, customer focus and quality with recognition by winning last year’s Deming. The Deming Prize is one of the highest awards in TQM ( Total Quality Management) in the world. Since its establishment in 1951, no other globally established compressor manufacturer outside of Japan had won this award.
