A PURPOSE-BUILT Gas & Gear store has been opened by BOC in Christchurch as part of the company’s multi-million-dollar upgrade to its New Zealand operations.

Gas & Gear – a new building on the company’s old site – features BOC’s full welding range, with a large gas dock providing easy customer access and a new live welding demonstration bay to showcase TIG/MIG/Arc welding equipment and gases for any application from small DIY projects to heavy fabrication.

Cory Spence, General Manager of BOC New Zealand, said the new Gas & Gear is a big boost to BOC’s South Island operations and part of a significant investment program for its Christchurch operations which will also include cylinder yard upgrades at its neighbouring production site.

“We’re proud to open this modern Gas & Gear, which has been designed to support customer needs now, and in the future, with new features that improve the in-store experience for customers – from quick collection of gas cylinders at our spacious gas dock, to new in-store service capability.

“Our local Christchurch Gas & Gear team led by Ferdie Pretorius is full of energy and committed to providing customers with advice on the latest gas applications and welding products to use – and helping identify opportunities to improve efficiencies in their processes. We look forward to welcoming our Christchurch customers to the new store and celebrating the opening with some great new product offers in the coming months,” concluded Spence.
