Western Milk products

driving efficiency with New Zealand developed CMMS solution

Westland Milk products, based in Hokitika, is New Zealand’s second biggest dairy co- operative and the only dairy company on the West Coast of the South Island. It has been a long-time user of the Workmate CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System). Like all businesses, increasing efficiency, productivity and reliability is a critical part of maintaining and growing a business. Westland has been driving increased efficiencies by using the Workmate CMMS solution as a critical part of that process.

Chris Pullen Jr (Reliability Leader) is very pleased with the progress made over the last few years to improve efficiency. “Westland has been a long-time user of the Workmate CMMS solution and it has proven to be a reliable and effective tool to help our business grow and evolve. We have really had to up our game within the last few years and we needed a software solution to help us do that. The Azzmax Team (creators of the Workmate CMMS solution) has worked with us to build a really solid platform for growth and provided several new technology initiatives to help us do that.” Pullen adds, “Workmate is actually much more than a conventional CMMS as virtually everyone on site uses the solution. Workmate takes care of all our engineering inventory and purchasing requirements with about 80 percent of all purchase orders being managed by the system. All new work requests are processed and allocated through Workmate and I have complete control of what is happening on a daily basis. The new ‘ iMate’ (iPad) module for mobile asset management is in the process of being implemented as we speak and this will add another dimension to our operation.”

Having a CMMS partner that can respond to your changing needs is critical when it comes to building an effective Maintenance and Planning program. Pullen is adamant that they have the right partner with Azzmax.

“It really is all about attention to detail and getting all of the lit tle things right when it comes to building an effective Engineering Team and efficient work flow process for all Production Teams. We have had to be quite specific about what we needed the CMMS to do for us as different users require a slightly different view of the same information. Azzmax has been an ideal partner in this regard as they have been able to configure, tweak and modify the program to give each user exactly what they need. This is an ongoing process with small but important changes being implemented every few months. The small improvements have created a huge buy-in from all departments and the system delivers in all areas.”

Azzmax has been developing Workmate to be one of the most flexible Maintenance systems out there, making it a “have to have” system for developing maintenance procese’s in New Zealand’s market.

Workmate is a New Zealand owned Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) developed by Azzmax New Zealand. This flexible Product can be set up to suit all maintenance situations to achieve planning, resourcing, repetitive tasks and preventive tasks. This is a full suite that covers Asset Hierarchy, Work Orders, Inventory, Purchasing and Invoicing. All of these modules also include Barcode and QR Code integration.

“If there’s a company that’s not sure how to move into a Real CMMS we can definitely give them the help they need…” (Dion Turvey – Azzmax)

Azzmax offers not only the software, but also supports the business growth and development of a maintenance process to assist with Purchasing, Inventory, and Work order Flow.

They can guide you to get a better grasp of Asset hierarchy, and what this means to you and your company. Helping you choose where you start to build your hierarchy an easier process.

Moving with the times Azzmax has developed this as a web browser application also, to allow companies to have easy access to it from any browsing device. But most recently it has been taking advantage of the security features of iOS and has developed ‘iMate’ which can be used on iPhone or iPad to be a tradesman’s tool to book items out of stores to allocating time to Work Orders without requiring to go back to a stand-alone computer. This ‘ iMate’ application also incorporates QR codes for ease of use on Assets, Parts and Work Orders.

Azzmax has been operating since 1994 providing specialist asset management and CMMS solutions to companies around New Zealand and internationally. This well- developed SQL- based CMMS has a friendly interface making the use of this application simple. It also has the ability to liaise with other Software packages to import/export information for accounting/record requirements. Azzmax considers its approach to development to be part of a continuous improvement journey, always allowing room for new ideas to let the product be fit for purpose for every client.

This affordable product comes with a Crystal reporting package that allows you to hand pick simple standard reports that can give you feedback on Work or Purchase flows, to assist Coordination of a maintenance process that can achieve cost savings through maintenance improvement and improved reliability of plant.

Workmate uses an easy to view, and use, Asset Hierarchy Feature that gives each client the ability to tailor their assets to their requirements, holding, specifications and history, including stock parts and non- stock parts. Attached parts can also be viewed on the asset hierarchy tree view

For a short time Azzmax will be offering a Maintenance Process Health Check for sites that would like us to come out and assess some of the inventory, work and purchase flow for maintenance.
