EAT AT THE BAR
Matt Mcconnell with Jo Gamvros, Hardie Grant Publishing, $55 It all began with a delicious aroma, wafting out of a bar in Barcelona. The smell was tuna-filled empanadas, the bar was La Pineda, and the Aussie pair who followed their noses are this book’s authors. Chef Matt and hospitality veteran Jo loved not just La Pineda, but Spanish bars in general, with their fresh, locally sourced food. They went on to open their own establishment, Bar Lourinhã in Melbourne, and this book is a selection of customer favourites. From tapas such as Rabbit Empanadillas to ‘dulces’ such as Torta Naranja and Pomegranate Crema, there’s much to relish here. Pour yourself a jerez and enjoy.
