It’s been called “the ab­so­lute Bi­ble of New Zealand wines” and “to­tally in­dis­pens­able” by crit­ics and con­sumers alike. Over the past 27 years I’ve watched Michael Cooper’s Buyer’s Guide to New Zealand Wines grow from a dainty, pocket-sized pa­per­back, to a weighty tome. The lat­est edi­tion cri­tiques over 3000 wines, cov­er­ing close to 50 va­ri­eties and cat­e­gories. His White Wine Buy of the Year is the Thorn­bury Marl­bor­ough Sauvi­gnon Blanc 2018 ($14.50), which also won Gold in our Tast­ing Panel (see page 107).
