New Zealand is getting its first taste of the global mezcal bar trend with the opening of La Fuente Wine & Mezcal in Auckland. Offering a mix of wines alongside artisan mezcal – a distilled alcoholic drink made from the agave (or maguey) plant – and Mexican-inspired food, the bar is owned and operated by Mexicanbor­n sommelier Edmundo Farrera. It will operate like a wine bar and shop where you can taste drinks before buying them to take home.
