Digital training you can bank on
The Covid lockdowns accelerated the switch to online banking and those still wanting to make the change will get an extra helping hand in Glen Innes.
The Digital
Inclusion Alliance
Aotearoa (DIAA) has partnered with Kiwibank to develop some Stepping UP training modules for digital banking and these are being offered to Glen
Innes residents in collaboration with local community partners as well as online via Zoom.
The training helps people understand digital banking as well as how to recognise and avoid online scams. The training is free and open to anyone, regardless of who they bank with.
Daily sessions are being held at 10am and 1pm until Friday. People may join in from their own homes using Zoom or at any location with an internet connection.
Anyone who does not have internet access can register for sessions on DORA – Digital OnRoad Access – a mobile learning centre bus that will be parked up in Mayfair Place in Glen Innes Town Centre, or go to the Te Oro Arts Centre.
DIAA digital inclusion Auckland ambassador Leilani Glassie will host the sessions at Te Oro. Glassie commented that ‘‘digital banking does present some challenges for many people in our community, and we are delighted to participate in this new approach combining online training with local hubs. Anyone who cannot access the online sessions from their homes is welcome to join in at one of our hubs, but as places are limited’’.
Glassie can be ,contacted by phoning 022 641 9041 or by emailing leilani@diaa.nz, to book a place.
DIAA operations director Laurence Zwimpfer said no-one needed to miss out.
‘‘Working with local Stepping UP partners and Kiwibank, we have already provided over 2500 New Zealanders throughout the country with new skills and confidence to use online banking.
‘‘Our goal is to ensure that there are opportunities in all communities to get ongoing support for online banking and other digital skills.’’
People who are interested in joining in an online digital banking class can get the link to the Zoom sessions by registering themselves on the Stepping UP website: steppingup.nz/
