Enjoying ideal conditions

Eastern Courier - - LOCALJOBS -

Fishing this past week has still been amazing. Even though the wind was up during the weekend, snapper, kahawai and kingfish have been caught across the Hauraki Gulf and Tamaki Strait.

A couple of locals also caught decent sized kahawai and snapper at Bucklands Beach.

Top places this week are Parks Point, Crusoe Rock, Brown’s Island and Motuihe Channel. Reeling in up to 12lb snapper and very close in also means you don’t have to travel too far.

Big congratulations to a couple of our club members who have landed their very first striped marlin, one weighing 96kg and the other just under 70kg.

Mahimahi have also been caught off the west coast. They’ve been quite scarce in recent times, but the numbers are plentiful again.

The top baits are mackerel and pilchards. Until next week... Tight Lines!
