BEST FOOT FORWARD

-

While first impressions count where footwear is concerned, there’s more than meets the eye to Louis Vuitton’s Charlie sneaker—these slick kicks are crafted from 90 per cent recycled and bio-sourced materials. Available in both a low (pictured) and high-top version, this style cleverly combines technicality and charm. Crafted in Louis Vuitton’s shoe workshop in Fiesso d’Artico, northern Italy, the sole contains 94 per cent recycled rubber. While the upper is produced from recycled polyester that’s finished with a layer of corn-based plastic Biopolioli, the logo is made from Econyl, a recycled (and recyclable) nylon waste derivative. Every detail, right down to the shoe box that transforms into a carry bag thanks to a Tencel handle, has been considered with the environment in mind. A harmony of thoughtful materials at their finest, Charlie also marks an essential step in the right direction towards Louis Vuitton’s sustainable development plan. Composed of six focus areas for action, this manifesto also aligns with parent company LVMH’s LIFE360 environment performance roadmap. Mark your calendar; these mindful masterpieces are set to arrive in-store on November 12.
