Picturesque andrelaxed lifestyle

-

Situated in the heart of a friendly rural town where no parking metres play testament to the locals relaxed way of life, this fabulous Feilding home awaits new owners to enjoy.

Within easy driving distance to central Palmerston North, close to beaches, outdoor activities including walking, hiking and mountain biking, 63 Ranfurly Road provides the perfect location for those with a love of the outdoors.

Built by owners Ross and Sue 23 years ago with a generous footprint of approx. 270m2, this unique home is very private and surrounded by trees and birds too numerous to name. The pair were inspired to build as at the time they couldn’t find an existing property that suited their needs.

‘‘We wanted a small area for a pony and a few animals within walking distance to schools and town,’’ they say.

Over two decades on, they have created an enviable lifestyle for themselves with their own fruit trees, fresh vegetable gardens and even a motel for chickens.

The house itself, they say, is very comfortable and easy to live in, and it has a bit of history attached to it as well.

‘‘It is a mixture of old and new as we gathered up recycled native timber tongue and groove flooring and the solid wood staircase came out of the old Cosmopolitan Club in Raetihi, where the outlaw George Wilder was held up.’’

Folklore would have you believe that he caused a fire and some of the flooring still has the scorch marks in it, which not only adds to the character, but might help confirm the story wasn’t too far from the truth.

All the internal wooden doors and sills are native timber and Ross and Sue have kept them waxed for easy care.

Magnificent views of the surrounding countryside are captured from the kitchen, dining and lounge areas and so too is plenty of natural sunlight for a significant portion of the day.

From the upstairs balcony and bedroom the picturesque vistas continue with Palmerston North and the Tararua ranges to the south/east and stunning evening sunsets to enjoy.

Dry stone walls, native trees and palms create quite the welcome as you drive into this private property, where Ross and Sue have created a pictureperfect paradise.

Generous living spaces spilling out onto several outdoor living areas, established and easily maintained gardens and trees creating a colourful backdrop, this

Mediterranean-style home simply must be seen to be truly appreciated.

The traditional plaster over fibre cement board classing provides a solid exterior and the old hardwood outdoor telephone poles that support the pergola, plus the beautiful Kauri front entry door, all hint at the character inside.

Outside too is very special with all sorts of adventures to be had. On a lovely summer day, you can take an amble down to Feilding’s first swimming pool (which is now a local dam) or rug up warm and check out the number of ducks who seek shelter in May. It’s quite the sight. This well-loved home is an ideal long-term family lifestyle property with plenty to offer the prospective purchaser looking for something special.
