Best in Business awards launched

- JOHN BOYNTON

It’s time to celebrate Pukekohe’s business community at the 2017 Pukekohe Business Association’s Best in Business Awards.

This year will be the sixth edition of the PBA Best in Business Awards, and from today entries can be put forward for the competition.

The awards are proudly supported by ANZ, Carters, The Engine Room, Execam, and the Franklin County News.

PBA business manager Kendyl Sullivan said she was looking for- ward to reading entries and finding out about the success of Pukekohe businesses.

‘‘There’s not anything like this for businesses in our area. It’s important for Pukekohe businesses to celebrate their success.’’

Nominations for the Best in Business Awards are open until May 22. There are five category awards - Health and Beauty, Retail, Manufacturing and Trade, Hospitality, and Professional services. There are also special awards for People’s Choice, Outstanding Submission and Community Recognition.

To be nominated, businesses must be an existing member of the PBA or entitled to be a full member. This year there is added incentive to nominate a business, with a special marketing video a prize for award winners.

‘‘That adds value to the prizes, so when people look at what they’re going to win they think that’s a bit exciting,’’ Sullivan said. Past winners of the Best in Business supreme award include Albert’s Kitchen (2016) and The Goodness Grocer (2015).

Nominated businesses will be asked to submit why they deserve the title of Best in Business.

The people of Pukekohe will have their say during public voting, which opens June 1 and goes through to July 3.

The categories will be judged on the number of votes received (in store and online); feedback from a mystery shopper (an independent customer service specialist), and the nominated business’ submission.

Nominated businesses will be invited to attend a nominees’ evening on May 25 with the venue to be confirmed.

The black tie Best in Business awards function is on July 29 at the Pukekohe Indian Association Hall with comedian Jeremy Elwood as MC.

Best in Business nomination forms are at pukekohe.org.nz or on P12 in today’s paper.
