Good in the Hood voting under way
Franklin residents can help out their local community groups this month by voting in Z Energy’s Good in the Hood.
Good in the Hood is a community funding programme that awards more than a million dollars every year to around 800 kiwi groups, doing good for people or the environment in the area, around their local Z petrol station.
Z Pukekohe and Z Waiuku have chosen four groups each to support in 2017 and the groups will share $8000 between them.
Locals will determine what percentage of the funding goes to each group by voting with an orange token each time they shop at Z in May. Local groups for Z Pukekohe are the Pukekohe Volunteer Fire Brigade, South Auckland Riding for the Disabled, Pukekohe Community Patrol and Franklin Hospice.
For Z Waiuku they are Waiuku Coastguard, Bellyful Franklin, Marama Hou Ministries Trust and Waiuku Family Support Network.
Kennerley Retail Investment community champion Melanie Kennerley said funding was used for a number of costs and equipment.
‘‘For all groups it assists them in doing the amazing work they do in the community on a daily basis.’’
Hunua MP Andrew Bayly attended the first drop event at Z Pukekohe to kick start voting.
‘‘These are all well-deserving charities who work hard for us all,’’ Bayly said.
‘‘I particularly want to acknowledge Wayne and Melanie Kennerley, the retailers of these Z Stations, who enable four hours of community service a month for each of their stations and their ongoing generous support of the community.’’
