Last chance to have your say, Franklin

-

Time is running out to have your say on Auckland Transport’s Regional Land Transport Plan, with less than a week to do so as submissions close 8pm, May 14.

Franklin Local Board chair Angela Fulljames is imploring residents to make their voices heard by making submissions.

She said traffic was the number one concern raised during the Auck- land Council 10-year budget consultation.

‘‘You have told us transport was your number one area of concern, that our roads need to be better equipped to move our people and products and that you need user-friendly transport choices,’’ Fulljames said.

‘‘We have heard you and are strongly advocating for increased and accelerated delivery across our communities.

‘‘But now it’s time for you to send that message to Auckland Transport directly.’’

The feedback will help determine how the draft Regional Land Transport Plan and Proposal for Regional Fuel Tax outlines will prioritise spending.

Electrification of the Pukekohe train line and the funding for phase one of the Mill Rd corridor project are among the proposals to be funded by the Regional Fuel Tax.

The proposed Mill Rd corridor project will provide an additional strategic north-south corridor for southern Auckland once complete.

But the current proposal only funds the first stage which stretches from Manukau to the intersection of Mill Rd and Popes Rd. Further plans on con- nectivity into neighbouring Tuakau haven’t been announced.

Thousands of submissions have been submitted and Fulljames said that it’s vital Franklin residents share a southern perspective on what might be missing.

To make a submission visit akhaveyoursay.nz or make a hard-copy submission at libraries or services centres.
