It’s going to be a massive day at the Pukekohe Netball Courts on Saturday for the official opening of the 2018 netball season.

I’ll be there - both our girls are keen players - and this newspaper is a proud sponsor of the centre.

Fingers crossed the sun is shining for the hundreds of players, from young girls starting out to the seasoned premier stars, all set to ‘march past’ in their uniforms during the opening ceremony at 11am.

Even if you don’t play netball, this is a great spectacle to watch, dozens of team dressed to impress as they march before officials and their competition wearing their team colours with pride.

There’s also a full day of games. Now grading is over, the competition begins, with court action from 8.30am right through to 2.40pm. That’s a lot of netball!
