Suspicious fire at Supercheap Auto
Ten firefighters attended a suspicious fire at Pukekohe’s Supercheap Auto on Sunday.
Two fire engines responded to the blaze on Massey Ave at approximately 2am said Pukekohe Chief Fire Officer John Robinson.
The fire began in the rubbish skip next to the building and caused some structural damage to the exterior. The blaze took approximately one hour and fifteen minutes to extinguish.
It is not confirmed if the blaze is related to the recent series of fires in the area, but police are treating the incident as suspicious.
The cause of the fire is unknown but police will be conducting an investigation with the assistance of the Fire and Emergency New Zealand.
The Franklin area has seen a recent spate of suspicious fires, often targeting show homes and vacant houses under construction
