Kia ora,

It’s great to be back at my desk after a break, and thanks to my colleague Nicola for doing an awesome job in my absence.

A lot happened while I was away, including the opening of the new-look upgraded Pukekohe train station last week.

The upgrade is great news for locals who use public transport as well as visitors to our town - it will also make it easier for people to move around our region without adding to congestion.

The upgraded station links bus stops with the existing rail platform and has improved connections to our local roads and footpaths.

There is also a new 87-vehicle park and ride carpark - that’s got to be good news for the commuters struggling to find a a park along Station Rd.

*In the June 7 edition of the Franklin County News, it was reported the newly upgraded train and bus facilities cost $18 million, however that is incorrect. The new facilities cost $16.2 million.
